Our favourite TV nun shares the secrets of ageing with joy bless her!
Jenny's big milestone 'DON'T CALL ME OLD!'

After many years working as an actress – the most recent as the unfl appable nun Sister Julienne in the hit TV series Call the Midwife – Jenny Agutter could have splashed out big-time for her 70th birthday.

Instead, the star chose a pub lunch with family and close friends, with fi sh and chips… and Champagne.

“The thing about getting older is that you become a lot more aware that your journey is going to come to an end and that you have to enjoy it for as long as it continues. So that’s what I’m doing,” says Jenny, who celebrated her milestone on December 20.

“I’ve got to a point where I think, ‘Do you know what? Age really doesn’t count – it’s just a number.’ Sometimes there’s a bit of creaking and stiffness, but physically I don’t feel much different. As long as I’m given the opportunity to keep working and discovering new things, it means very little to me.”

With the 12th season of Call the Midwife currently being lapped up by fans all over the world, Jenny is in hot demand. In fact, she’s already signed up for season 13 of the popular drama about a group of midwives working in London’s East End in the 1950s and ’60s.

The regular work has been a godsend for the star, who was just 15 when she landed her first stand-out role in the TV version of The Railway Children in 1968.
