It's quite possibly one of the most anticipated books in publishing history. And as the furore around Prince Harry's memoir Spare grows, it seems it's not just the royal family who are disturbed by his controversial biography.
Even some of his closest friends aren't supporting his efforts to get what he's dubbed his true story out in public.
Several of them were asked by Harry to speak to his ghost writer J.R. Moehringer for the book, but most refused, according to a royal source.
"Harry did reach out. Friends and former girlfriends were polite and said they would think about it but ultimately most said no. It was felt to be kind of ironic that Harry would hit the roof if he ever had an inkling they spoke to the media, but now he wants them to when he needs their help.”
Harry, 38, who married actress Meghan Markle in 2018, had two long-term relationships before meeting his wife. He and student-turned-business owner Chelsy Davy were together from 2004 to 2010, and he then dated model and actress Cressida Bonas for two years from 2012. It's not known whether Chelsy, 37, and Cressida, 33, were approached for the book, which has been titled Spare in reference to the fact that while his brother Prince William, 40, is the heir to the throne, he is considered to be the "spare".
