Aside from her stint on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, Fern Britton has remained relatively out of the spotlight in recent years, opting for a quiet life in Cornwall. But is that about to change? Next month, the star will release a new book, The Older I Get: How I Repowered My Life. When sharing the news with fans, she said, ‘The older I get, I find that life gets very irritating at times. And there’s an awful lot of life to live yet, isn’t there?’ Further explaining the book, she added, ‘So I’ve hit upon a word, which is “repowering”. It’s not empowering – empowering suggests that you never had any power to start with. Repowering is picking up the energy that we all had and somehow squandered during our lives. It’s finding it and making contact with it again.’
Now, PR expert Dermot McNamara tells Woman that Fern, 67, could be well and truly ready to let go of her past and embrace this new power by spilling all about her marriage to Phil Vickery in the book, as well as her feud with her former This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield, saying, ‘I’d be surprised if she didn’t talk or hint about her marriage, and the same for Phillip Schofield. Surely she will want to have her say.’
