FROM BARRY TO BILLERICAY

Back with a bang Series 2

Lovebirds Gavin and Stacey returned from their relaxing honeymoon to a whole host of drama. Humiliated at the airport with a huge ‘welcome home’ sign, they then headed to a family dinner where Smithy discovered Nessa was pregnant, while Dawn and Pete tried (and failed) to get their threesome off the ground.

Barry Islands in the Stream Series 2

Barry residents Bryn and Nessa showed off their vocal talents many times throughout the series, but it’s for Gwen’s Wild West birthday that the duo are most fondly remembered. After nearly having a nervous breakdown trying to organise the surprise celebration, hapless Bryn joined Nessa on stage for a showstopping rendition of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ duet Islands in the Stream. The version proved such a hit with viewers it was even released as a special single to raise money for Comic Relief.

Wedding crasher Series 3

Fans were left shouting at the screen when Nessa prepared to tie the knot with Dave Coaches, knowing it was Smithy she truly loved. Luckily the hapless Essex lad arrived at the church (with their baby son) in epic romcom fashion to stop the ceremony – leaving us with hopes of a happy ending.

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE NOSTALGIC THAN CHRISTMASES PAST?

Do you remember the anticipation before the big day, pondering endlessly about what should go on your Christmas list? I would lovingly write two or three things down, pop it into an envelope and leave it by the fireplace to be wafted up the chimney like something out of Mary Poppins.
