'HER RELATABILITY STEMS FROM THE FACT THAT SHE COULD BE LIKE US'

I’ve been lucky enough to have had lots of chats with our new Princess of Wales and she’s every bit as gracious and kind in private as she is in public.

'HER RELATABILITY STEMS FROM THE FACT THAT SHE COULD BE LIKE US'

As a mum myself we often talk about our children, who are similar ages, and it does feel as if she could be just another mum at the school gate. She has the same worries and experiences with her ‘kiddies’ (as she calls them) as most of us do.

She and Prince William run a tight ship as parents – they are very hands-on (royal engagements are timed so they can be free for the school run) and set firm boundaries for Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.

Kate, 41, believes in being ‘strict but kind’. There’s no ‘naughty step’ at Adelaide Cottage, their Windsor home. Instead, there is a ‘chat sofa’ – if one of her brood are playing up, they are taken here and talked to calmly and quietly by Kate or William.

Things are explained and talked through, consequences outlined and both parents try very hard not to shout at either the kids or each other!
