Looking for a fun way to keep the weight off? Getting frisky between the sheets could be the answer
How sex CAN KEEP YOU SLIM

You might be familiar with the calorie-burning benefits of a sweaty sex session, but did you know the hormones released during physical intimacy could also help you stay in shape? 'These include oxytocin, dopamine and endorphins, which are not just released during orgasm, but through all sexual and intimate activities,' says sex and relationship coach Nina Mandair (ninamandair.com).

Our experts reveal the surprising slimming effects of sex so you can make weight loss a pleasure.

Curb your appetite

Oxytocin, also known as the 'love hormone', is released during physical affection, orgasm and times when you feel warm and fuzzy, says sex and relationship expert Annabelle Knight*. But increased levels of oxytocin can also help to reduce appetite, decrease overeating and enhance your metabolism, says research**.

This is due to oxytocin-reducing activation in the hypothalamus - an area of the brain that controls hunger and increases activation in regions of the brain associated with impulse control. Can't resist sugary snacks in the evening? Switch TV box sets and tempting treats for a massage, cuddling or a bubble bath together.
