Oxytocin, also known as the 'love hormone', is released during physical affection, orgasm and times when you feel warm and fuzzy, says sex and relationship expert Annabelle Knight*. But increased levels of oxytocin can also help to reduce appetite, decrease overeating and enhance your metabolism, says research**.
This is due to oxytocin-reducing activation in the hypothalamus - an area of the brain that controls hunger and increases activation in regions of the brain associated with impulse control.
