One of the most common cancers in men is prostate cancer, with one in eight being diagnosed in their lifetime. While us women can check our breasts and men can check their testicles for changes to flag with a GP, it's not so straightforward when it comes to the prostate.

In men, this walnut-sized gland sits below the bladder, surrounding the wee pipe (urethra), and is only felt via a rectal examination. As a man ages, it's quite normal for the prostate to get bigger and passing urine may become a slower process. But given the lack of obvious changes that are seen or felt, it's important that a man knows when to seek medical attention.
