Secret seaside HIDEAWAY

With its sandy beaches, quaint villages and stunning hikes, Cornwall has earned its reputation as one of the most picturesque corners of the country. And, as it's accessible by train*, along one of the UK's most beautiful train routes, it's easy to reach too. Yet there's almost too much choice when it comes to picking a place to stay: are you looking for activities, a place to unwind and relax, or great food?

A little bit of everything

Head north of St Ives and you'll encounter the fishing village Portreath. It's home to a gorgeous beach - perfect for surfing - as well as clifftop coastal paths offering breathtaking views, a Cornish pasty shop that's open 365 days a year and beachside fish and chips. Even better, there's a hidden gem nestled on a hill overlooking Portreath the coastal resort of Gwel an Mor, which is easily reached by a short woodland trail.

Here, there are Scandinavian-style lodges with ample space for families and lakeside cabins for two with private outdoor hot tubs that offer glimpses of the glittering Atlantic Ocean.

Both offer respite from the outside world for a weekend of quiet restoration.
