Fat is our body's primary source of energy. We don't have be running, jumping, swimming, cycling, lifting heavy weights, and generally grimacing our way through a gruelling schedule of training sessions to use it up.
The NEAT way to work out

No, because the good news is that we're burning fat even when we're sitting still. After all, the body has to get energy from somewhere to keep all our organs functioning well and our metabolic processes ticking along nicely. That fat also gives us the energy to get up and find the remote control, open the fridge or arm-wrestle your partner - should the fancy take you. All of that is 'movement' and fat is its fuel.
