I often ask myself, why did I fall for such an awful man? Why did I allow myself to be treated so terribly? Unless you’ve been in an abusive relationship yourself, you will never really understand why.
I was with David Carrick for four-and-ahalf years and they were the worst years of my life. In that time he degraded me, humiliated me, raped and abused me and left me feeling so worthless as a human being.
David would force me to clean his house naked, yelling at me to tidy up packets of Viagra and other women’s underwear, and force me to perform sex acts on him. It seemed he got his thrills out of controlling me and witnessing my vulnerable state.
