Gillian Harvey, 45, lives with her husband Ray and their five children, aged from eight to 13.

I still have a few pairs of heels, tucked in the back of my wardrobe. I can't bring myself to throw them out, but I doubt I'll ever wear them because these days, I've been spoiled by comfortable shoes.

In my 20s and early 30s, I was rarely out of heels and I'd only ever don trainers for running. Part of it was because I liked the way heels looked. I was self-conscious about my height, at just 5ft 2in, and liked the boost a few inches gave me. I also felt they made me look a little slimmer.
