Is it ever OK to copy?

MISHAAL KHAN, LIANNE LOVELL
Is it ever OK to copy?

YES

'I take it as a huge compliment'

Charlotte Leigh, 42, lives in north London with husband Jamie, 42, and their children Harry, 11, and Sophie, seven.

Just recently, I met up with a friend and noticed she had the same handbag that I'd showed off to her a few weeks earlier. Did I mind? Not at all - in fact, I took it as a huge compliment.

There's nothing wrong with copying someone else's style, whether that be in terms of fashion, hairstyle or home decor. As a jewellery designer, I take inspiration from others, whether consciously or not. It would be a lie for someone to say their style was not influenced by anyone.

My friend and I are obsessed with accessories and we're always talking about the next belt or handbag we want.

Often, we'll try on each other's things, and neither of us takes offence if the other copies.
