Rockeries have been were hugely popular in the 1950s and 1960s, before falling out of fashion. Now they’re back, their photogenic good looks popping up all over Instagram. But there are also practical reasons that make rockeries so desirable – they are drought-resistant, low-maintenance, and work in the smallest of spaces. You don’t even need a garden to have one, as rockery plants thrive in troughs or shallow planters.
