Life is a jigsaw puzzle with some pieces missing. So true! And I what life does is searching for the missing pieces and putting them in their appropriate place to give life a meaningful shape. Human life is an endless quest for a new purpose and destination.
We humans classify our life into explicit, conclusive compartments, like childhood, youth, middle age, and old age. On a more practical level, we divide this linear time into segments of education, professional life, marriage, parenthood, children's education, their marriages, and our retirement.
But what after that?
In our childhood, we wrote an essay on 'Your Aim in Life', opting either to become a teacher, doctor, or an IAS officer. Soon, we realised it is not an aim but a profession, as life doesn't stop at being a teacher or a doctor. We keep moving, trying to reach one goal after another, and these become significant milestones in this journey. Once we reach one, we go after the next.
And this quest, this journey, goes on. Life never presents itself in its fullest vista to us. We don't know what our life will be like next year or the year after. We move on to the presumptions about ourselves which we create based on our potential, our convictions, and our faith in ourselves.
Sometimes, our presumptions prove right, and sometimes we face disappointments, yet we don't stop.
We may go wrong while putting the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together, resulting in the corners chipping off. The broken, jagged corners keep pricking us forever, reminding us of our mistakes, like some hasty decision, or some negligence, making us regret our folly.
