A Harvard Medical School study found that those who ate 2 to 6 apples per week were 28% less likely to develop the disease. Not an apple fan? The same study found that drinking 4 cups of tea every day curbs diabetes risk by 27%. Researchers suspect that catechins in apples and tea keep insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas healthy by reducing oxidative damage.
