Sip a pre-dinner drink

Swapping your glass of wine with dinner for a “happy hour” cocktail may help you sleep soundly. While alcohol initially makes you drowsy, in a cruel twist, it then disrupts your restorative REM sleep during the second half of slumber, leaving you restless, British scientists say. But simply taking your last sip at least 4 hours before bed will give your body the time it needs to metabolize the alcohol from your drink before you turn in for the night.
