Rainbow key to healthy!

Red chilies help your heart

Whether you prefer a Szechuan hot pot or four-alarm chili, enjoying four dishes a week featuring spicy red peppers can lower your risk of a severe heart attack by 40% and cut your risk of deadly stroke in half, according to the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Capsaicin in chili peppers may prevent plaque buildup, which helps keep your arteries clear.

Oranges safeguard sight

Women who enjoyed two servings of fresh oranges per week in a UCLA study had notably lower odds of developing glaucoma compared to those consuming less than one serving. Credit goes to antioxidants and carotenoids that reduce oxidative stress and improve blood flow, protecting the optic nerve. Bump it up to three servings of any fruit a day and your risk of the vision-stealing disease plummets by a whopping 79%.
