Our travels begin in Victoria where we joined hatted chef Jung Eun Chae at the micro restaurant she has created in her home in Cockatoo on Melbourne’s periphery. A bit further afield at Woodend in the Macedon Ranges, we visited a former TV producer and her partner who have restored a cottage and transported a Melbourne dance studio to create a home and B&B on their property. We’ve a garden feature from Manjimup in Western Australia’s Southern Forests region and a profile on a Christmas tree farm at Tamworth in the NSW north-east. Our travel feature is a road trip through south-west Queensland with stops to soak in the waters of the Great Artesian Basin, fossick for opal and walk in the tracks of dinosaurs. Our travels begin in Strathalbyn, the gateway town to South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula where Sally and Rory McGregor have made their home. Then we travel to Geelong in Victoria where author Fiona Lowe lives and works. On the road again, we head to central-western Queensland where Milynda Rogers, a talented self-taught sculptor, has created a 200-kilometre-long sculpture trail that has put the tiny outback town of Aramac on the map. We start in Alice Springs where we meet retired nurse Deanna Bitar and her husband Samih at the extraordinary home they’ve owner-built on a hill overlooking the beautiful Macdonnell Ranges. Our travels then head to Victoria where we visit a gorgeous garden at Tatong and the house Janelle Marsden built overlooking the vines of Porepunkah’s Feathertop Winery, both in the north-east of the state. We then venture south to Willow Grove in the foothills of the Baw Baw Ranges for a heartwarming story about how the collaboration of two women has injected new energy into their businesses as well as fresh perspective on their personal lives. Our travel story covers the Great Ocean Road and we also visit Tasmania for a profile on restaurateur and fragrance-company founder Hayley Self. Our next issue’s travels started in the very centre of Australia where we met Jan Heaslip, matriarch of Bond Springs station near Alice Springs. Jan has called the station home for almost 60 years and has been a passionate advocate for education for bush children for all of that time. She’s weathered all the challenges of remote living from drought and fire to floods and accidents. We also travelled to western Queensland where Erika and David Marsh and their family welcomed us to their home on a cattle station, then to the South Australian coastal town of Victor Harbor where we caught up with old friends Tania and Keith Norman, whose previous home at Encounter Bay and houseboat on the Murray River were featured in the magazine. Our travel story is a road trip up the Western Australian coast and our Australian abroad is Caroline Gabriel, who runs a bed and breakfast in Delhi, India. Our travels start in western Queensland where tour operators Alan and Sue Smith welcome us to their historic homestead on Rosebank station. This issue's travels start in the NSW central west, where we were lucky enough to visit food entrepreneur Simmone Logue at her home near Oberon, during which she prepared a lunch inspired by local produce. From there, we headed to South Australia where we visited a homestead and garden in the Coonawarra region and went on a road trip across Kangaroo Island. In Tasmania, we caught up with Alistair and Kerry Houston, who run the Ship Inn in Stanley and have painstakingly restored a stone former bond store as their home.
