Every issue of Prestige Indonesia celebrates a selection of extraordinary figures – sometimes from the same field of work, sometimes with a common passion, and
always with a story to tell. And at the end of every year, we dedicate the issue to
a series of extra extraordinary figures, each representing a certain profession or sphere of influence, and every one of them an icon in their own rights. Yes, I am, of
course, talking about our annual “It List” – and this year’s roundup is as special as ever. That being said, this time I would like to take a moment to highlight what I see as the most important value of this annual list: the power to inspire. The idea of
“inspiring” and “being an inspiration” can so easily lose its meaning these days, as if
setting the goalposts of what counts as success is all it takes to be considered inspirational. I propose that people who truly inspire are those who lift up those around them. Case in point would be our “It Girl” this year, Nazla Alifa. A content creator by trade, she now runs a talent management company that connect her fellow creators with brands, companies, and organizations to collaborate. What really stands out from this young lady, however, was how she answered our question about what separates established content creators such as herself with mere wannabes. And it is admittedly easy to become cynical about such a saturated profession. But Nazla simply replied: “I personally don’t think that there are content creators you can call ‘wannabes.’ We all simply want to create content.” This, I believe, is what truly makes somebody it. There are successful people who rise by surpassing others, and there are those who rise while pulling up others with them. That is why our “It List” exists.
