Desh 17 February 2023 celebrates and commemorates the 125th birth anniversary of the great German poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956). The five essays in this issue on the life, works and influence of Brecht are written by eminent Bengali thespians and practitioners of Brechtian theatre/ theory— Rudraprasad Sengupta, Ashok Mukhapadhyay, Subharanjan Dasgupta, Suman Mukhapadhyay and Sekhar Samaddar. The issue also carries a travelogue by Sharba Ghosh Nath on the Omkareshwar Temple in Madhya Pradesh. Regular sections like the serialized novel Kanchanfuler Kobi by Masud Ahmad, Mantabya, Granthalok, Kabita, Galpo, Shilpo Sanskriti, Chithipatra, Seshkatha etc are included too.
