In the present day, urban transport planning in India addresses numerous challenges, such as the steadily deteriorating air quality, rising greenhouse gas emissions, and adverse rising energy security risks. In order to mitigate these adverse eff ects, greater number of measures, beyond the policies already in place, will be required. In this context, electric vehicles off er alternate mobility options in order to redress the adverse impacts. Professor G Anu Kumar, through this article, presents the present EV landscape in the country and the challenges en route.
