This month: A chainsaw course in the South West
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve spoken to people who have bought chainsaws but ended up leaving them to gather dust in a shed or garage. Good practical intentions all too often fall victim to fear of this highly useful but also potentially deadly peace of kit. Likewise, if you don’t have a working knowledge of this equipment, then a lack of general upkeep can quickly reduce effectiveness and result in frustration and the chainsaw being put aside.
In either case, proper instruction is the answer, so I was pleased when I heard about the Chainsaw Maintenance and Operations Course being run by the Devon Association of Smallholders (DASH) and I got in touch with its trainer, Mark Isted, to find out more.
