Do We Adopt Them Or They Adopt Us?

I often wonder whether we adopt pets or they adopt us. I somehow got on to the conclusion that they adopt us. Yes! It might look as we are the ones adopting them, but in reality, they are the ones who accept us more than we do. They always put themselves in a place where anything they come across and whatever we throw at them, they will accept it happily. They don't know or rather I should say they don't do any discrimination. They accept each and every one of us, the way we are!
