System for inviting riders should help combat pay cards.
A NEW invitation system for international showjumping shows should ensure riders are invited as a result of good performance and help get pay cards under control.
Members of the FEI’s IT department explained the rules, which will be backed up by a new online system, at the sports forum.
Gaspard Dufour, head of IT, spoke of the two types of shows: those with unlimited entries and those with a maximum number of riders and horses, the second of which will use the system.
He said the new system will allow organising committees to invite 20% of the total number of places available, while different options allow for different percentages to be invited as home riders, by the national federation concerned, or by merit from their places in the Longines rankings.
