CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN kicked off her first World Cup campaign since 2015 in super style, finishing second behind reigning champion Isabell Werth and collecting a valuable 20 points towards qualifying for the final in Las Vegas in April 2020.
Charlotte and the 10-year-old Mount St John Freestyle have not competed since their elimination at the European Championships in Rotterdam in August, but they made a perfect return here with a confident, mistake-free grand prix. It earned them the top spot on the leaderboard with 79.98%, despite this being the Fidermark mare’s first-ever indoor international.
“I was really pleased with the whole test — it was pretty much a clear round,” said Charlotte.
The comfortable win set up Charlotte to conclude the order for the following night’s grand prix freestyle, which serves as the World Cup qualifier.
