Although Team GBR fails to complete the Nations Cup, Georgie Spence claims an impressive individual win
GERMANY continues to dominate the Nations Cup series, adding victory in Wiener Neustadt to successes at Strzegom and Houghton. But Britain’s Georgie Spence made a brilliant Nations Cup debut, taking individual CIC3* honours on her own and Suzanne Doggett’s Halltown Harley.
It was the first CIC3* run at the venue, Theresian Military Academy, the Austrian army’s officer training centre, and the country’s first Nations Cup.
Team GBR was down to three members after Olivia Craddock’s Billy Liffy was withdrawn before travelling, and ultimately just two completed as Kirsty Johnston’s Opposition Detective was one of eight horses to be withdrawn after cross-country or fail the final horse inspection, having moved a shoe and pulled offa pad on the cross-country. Alice Dunsdon finished 11th on Sambo III, but Georgie was the star.
