Mechatronics course gets EV charge

Mercedes-Benz recently introduced an industry-focused electric vehicle module in its Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) course. With this, the company aims to promote a future talent pool in the country and make them industry ready.

Introduced in 2006, the ADAM course is an initiative by Mercedes-Benz focused on building competencies and skills, and has been well received in nine technical institutions in various cities across the country. During the period 2006-2021, we had 1200 students benefit from the course. But, with the EV module in place, we expect to reach the number within the next five years, Shekhar Bhide, Vice-President, Customer Services & Corporate Affairs, Mercedes-Benz India told Autocar Professional.

The EV module will be a part of a 12-month Advanced Diploma within the ADAM course. The course will be split into sub-topics, designed to impart a holistic understanding of the latest EV technologies that are at a par with global industry standards. The module will impart knowledge about the advanced level of systems in the vehicle, awareness about the EV System and its measurements, along with personal and vehicle safety. The course has been designed to give those taking it an opportunity to get hands-on practical expertise in EV technologies as well.

As Bhide puts it, “ This is an initiation as a part of being responsible corporate citizens across and in respect to the upcoming evolving generation. This is followed across the globe wherever there is Mercedes Benz. In India, we do our bit as CSR and make the students more employable by bridging the gap between school, colleges and the OEMs.
