Big boy Bolas is back with a helping of his hefty V-twin – time to sort the very sensitive front suspension on the Suzuki, with help from Continental Tyres, too!
Well I’m back in the workshop with the big twin again: about time I hear you say!
Now, last time I mentioned I was going to use an Abba bike stand to remove the front-end so I could replace the fork seals and fit the new progressive fork springs Tony Hutchinson at Hagon supplied me with. Well that didn’t work at all as the pieces that fit to the bike didn’t fit the TL so it was back to the drawing board. In the end the bike was supported by my hydraulic lift and a paddock stand on the rear, this was a little nerve racking so I whipped the forks out and took them down to Chase Superbike Centre the next morning so we could get on with the job!
So we’re in the workshop and dismantling the forks. Everything is coming apart well, the seals are replaced with genuine Suzuki items and the springs and oil are replaced with springs and oil supplied by Tony Hutchinson at Hagon (cheers Tony – you’re a legend and Bertie has promised a feature on Hagon soon!). Before filling the forks up with fresh oil Simon Pinfield from Chase comments that the 2.5 weight oil may not be correct for the TL but a quick call to Hagon and they put us right – the oil is indeed correct.
