When you focus on what you’re good at instead of posing as something you’re not, you get a success story like the Lexus RX. But even the RX luxe-crossover has its limits—hauling multiple passengers—so Lexus is extending its appeal with an extended version.
About 4 inches longer than the regular RX models, the 2018 RX 350L comes in front- and all-wheel-drive V-6-powered variants, and an all-wheel-drive hybrid comes in the spring. With a third row squeezed in the back, the second row has been raised a little to allow for third-row foot room. It’s a nice touch, and there’s still sufficient second-row headroom. But the third row is cramped.
