More bang for your Kwid!
To further strengthen the Kwid’s position as a convenient, every-day hatchback, Renault India has included an optional AMT gearbox on its 1.0-litre version. It looks and feels like any other Kwid, but we took one for a short drive to get a hang of the 5-speed Easy-R AMT gearbox.
Aesthetically, it retains the pseudo SUV/crossover look, which has certainly worked well for Renault in the segment. There’s an Easy-R badge at the rear, and body graphics on the sides, but apart from that there’s little to differentiate this from the lesser 800cc and 1.0-litre variants. The interior is not too dissimilar from that of the current car, but gone is the gear stick and in comes a rotary AMT knob, which is our talking point here.
