Last month we brought you our first ride report of the Royal Enfield GT-R 650 from the Kari Motor Speedway. A few days later, Royal Enfield invited us to the track again to participate in one of the races. We passed on the wild card entry to one of our freelance rider-racers and friend of OVERDRIVE, Ashish Patel to get a racer’s point of view on the motorcycle.
Ashish frequents the track and has respectable lap times with a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R and loves the feel of a motorcycle that has no electronic aids on it. He has also raced the KTM RC390 and the Yamaha YZF-R15 and says that he was surprised to see the GT-R 650 feel just as quick as his raceready KTM around the Kari. Being a wild card entry from OD, Ashish went into the race weekend with zero saddle time on the GT-R650 - he hadn’t even attended the qualifiers that happened in October.
