Anthony Binns’ spectacular Daf XF105 ‘The Fire Fighter’ has been turning heads for some time now, but it’s his company as well as his truck that is capturing attention
When some people arrive at their wedding they want to make a memorable entrance, but few arrivals will live longer in the memory than that of Anthony Binns.
While it’s not uncommon for truck drivers to bring their truck to their wedding, Anthony’s is no ordinary one; ‘The Fire Fighter’, with its spectacular airbrushing and lights, certainly stands out from the crowd.
“I drove myself to my wedding – I don’t drink and I always drive myself everywhere, so it would be rude not to drive myself to my own wedding,” he says. He arrived in a mini-convoy, alongside one of his other trucks as well as his grandad’s old Daf 3600.
Fiery nuptials
But this isn’t the only wedding the truck has attended; it has since taken firefighters and ex-firefighters to their weddings as well. All appreciate the artwork showing firefighters through time, as well as the Daf’s depiction of ‘A Fireman’s Prayer’.
“The theme for ‘The Fire Fighter’ came from a friend, a local firefighter himself,” explains Anthony.
“I always think that film themes on trucks can go out of date, but the fire service will never do that. We have older and newer pictures of the fire service on the truck – for the newer images we used pictures of a local fire engine; all the hose reels, water, the main pumps and things like that, and these are on the back of ‘The Fire Fighter’, on the suzie box and where the water tank is,” he adds.
