Replacing or Repairing the Shifter Cable on a C5 Corvette with an Automatic Transmission
Q some help. I just became a victim of the dreaded broken shift cable. I actually had to manually shift the transmission linkage into Drive the other day just to get the car home from a local car show. Thankfully I did not need to use Reverse. However, my car is stuck in the garage now.
I have read the procedure in the service manual on how to replace the shifter cable and it states that I need to remove the intermediate exhaust pipe and the driveline tunnel closeout panel. I do not have a vehicle lift, and use jackstands when I lift the vehicle up to work on it, and removing the exhaust and the closeout panel can be difficult.
