But if the last few months have taught us anything it’s that sometimes as much as you want to head off into the sunset in your VW, things can get in the way. Fear not, it’s not all doom and gloom. After all, the beauty of a vehicle that fits in a town centre parking space, can squeeze down narrow lanes, and has all your creature comforts on board is that it’s the perfect day trip ride too. For most of us, months of lockdown meant we spent a large chunk of 2020 with campervan withdrawals. So between any longer trips you’ve got planned, why not plan some day-trips to get some hours in, in your bus?
Whether you’re a fan of the wilderness and want to escape for the day or fancy a change of scene in a quaint town, there are plenty of places to check out in the UK, no matter where you hail from. Some are better known than others and there are an almost-infinite number more if you have a little look but they might provide a bit of inspiration for a much-needed day trip out in your bus to make up for some of the lost time we’ve all seen this year.
Myton Fields, Warwick
We discovered Myton Fields - despite it being literally on our doorstep during the blissfully sunny period in May and couldn’t quite believe what a find it was. A grass car park right by the banks of the River Avon in Warwick, it’s the perfect place to park up and spend a day by the water, looking across to St Nicholas Park and even taking a dip if you want. It’s also within walking distance from the town centre so if you want to check out world-famous Warwick Castle or take in some independent shops that’s an option too.

Lance & Lisa Beaver tell the story of their...‘Old School' Westfalia Bay
The history of our bus is varied. I heard that it used to belong to a soccer player who lived in it for a while, and a tale of a cross country trip that was taken in it. Since we’ve owned it, we have been to numerous car shows with our car club Kahiko Kula and enjoy that immensely, but taking it camping is our joy.
Messing About in Boats
