Technically, this bus started life as a 2018 VW T6 edition 150 PS. I appreciate that we’ve all seen working Volkswagen panel vans which have a mattress chucked in at the weekends... And indeed, owner Daniel Lewes still fondly remembers spending just such a weekend with his wife Laura at Santa Pod soon after buying his T6 just before he sent it away to be modified.
This however, is a Platinum Extreme conversion from Platinum Skyline Wales. In reality, this makes it a proper working vehicle, (the back door is actually sign-written) which can double up as a very comfortable campervan.
“I wanted the VW to be used as a practical, yet refined vehicle, as well as just being my daily workhorse”. There’s a clever, split rear folding bulkhead which allows the bus to convert easily.
On the one hand, with the bulkhead folded down, it’s a day-van with under-bed storage and the ability to provide spacious sleeping for two adults. On the other, the bulkhead opens into the upright position to create something more akin to a crew cab which separates the driver and passenger compartment from the tools, chemicals and working equipment in the very back.

Lance & Lisa Beaver tell the story of their...‘Old School' Westfalia Bay
The history of our bus is varied. I heard that it used to belong to a soccer player who lived in it for a while, and a tale of a cross country trip that was taken in it. Since we’ve owned it, we have been to numerous car shows with our car club Kahiko Kula and enjoy that immensely, but taking it camping is our joy.
