Being a dominant player in the electrical wire and cable segment, what are the growth challenges faced by Finolex Cables?
Finolex Cables Ltd (FCL) has built a strong brand around safety by manufacturing high quality products with a long life. FCL started its operations in 1956 and is the most trusted brand in wires today. FCL’s home wiring designs became the electrical standard for the country, with ISI adopting our designs as a standard for the nation. Adding to its foray of offerings, FCL has embarked on a journey of being a leading electricals product conglomerate by adding products like fans, switches, MCBs, LEDs, water heaters, etc. The appetite of growing India and the burgeoning middle class are going be key drivers for FCL.
FCL manufactures electrical and communication cables. In the electrical segment, we manufacture a range of light duty cables catering to the home, agriculture, industry, automobiles and power sector. The products manufactured by us are electrical wires, flexible cables, auto cables, winding wire and 3-core flat cables, low voltage and high voltage power cables. We also have a joint venture with Sumitomo, Japan, for manufacturing extra high voltage power cables upto 500 KV. We are the only company in India to have already manufactured 2500 sq.mm, 400 KV power cables and got the accreditation from CESI, Italy.
In the communication cable segment, we manufacture a range of wire and cable products like jelly-filled telephone cables, fibre optic cables, LAN cables, co-axial cables, switchboard cables, CCTV cable, speaker cables, etc. Different products service different market segments like telecommunication, cable TV, computer networking, security, etc. Hence, the growth challenges are different for different market segments.
