Saudi Arabia Lifts Cinema Ban
Saudi Arabia lifted a 35-year-old ban on cinemas on December 11, prompting celebrations from film fans, directors and movie chains eyeing the last untapped mass market in the Middle East.
The first theatres could start showing films as early as March, the government said, as part of a reform drive that has seen the kingdom open its doors to concerts and comedy shows.
