Present Day Career Demographics

In the recent years, there has been a renewed interest on aspects surrounding career management business environment and the technological progress; especially the use of information technology. Changing notions of career success for individuals, the slow but definite transformation in career contract due to change at the organizational and the individual fronts, and, the essentialities for career success in the present day, therefore warrant introspection.

Objective notions of career success, in terms of position and rewards no longer hold significance to the current generation. While occupation within an organization incorporating vertical mobility and regular position updates were of significant importance not so long ago, the present generation is not averse to exploring new career trajectories even at the prime of their professional life. Realization of subjective individual needs, inclusive of a work-life balance, and continual professional development is of vital importance to this generation.
