Today, it is a major requirement and expectation for a lot of employees; we see employees saying “no” to jobs that do not offer workplace flexibility. In fact, the last two years have seen about 78 percent increase in job posts mentioning flexibility on LinkedIn, an employment-oriented service provider.

Workplace flexibility helps attain maximum benefits, for both the employee and the employer. This is because it offers employees their choice of workplace and time, thereby supporting their needs and in turn increasing their work satisfaction. It helps employees in creating a good balance between their personal and work life. For this kind of flexibility, companies must keep up with the latest technology trends, communicate on the pros and cons, and offer relevant work so that they get the best candidates from the vast talent pool. Studies have shown that workplace flexibility helps attract more candidates, boosts retention, enhances productivity and offers good work-life balance.

A lot of women start off great with their jobs and stand on par with their male counterparts. However, very few women make it to the top leadership positions. This is because once they enter the motherhood phase, it becomes difficult to give their all to work and home at the same time. While women are more likely to opt for jobs with flexible workplaces, there are others as well who would prefer this kind of an option. People with health problems or disabilities, caretakers, military spouses, those pursuing their interests or starting up something on their own, these are all the kinds of people who benefit from flexible and diverse workplaces.
