Cholesterol, is a vital component for our health. While it's true that cholesterol is an essential substance our bodies need, too much of the wrong kind can spell trouble! Cholesterol comes in two main types: LDL (low-density lipoprotein) and HDL (high-density lipoprotein). LDL cholesterol is often called "bad" cholesterol because it can build up in your arteries, creating plaque that narrows and clogs them, increasing the risk of heart disease. On the other hand, HDL cholesterol, often referred to as "good" cholesterol, helps remove excess LDL cholesterol from your bloodstream. In the past, it was widely believed that consuming a diet high in cholesterol was the primary culprit behind elevated blood cholesterol levels. However, recent research has debunked this misconception.
