Marathi Rocks!
I’ve always been an admirer of Marathi cinema and thanks to our Marathi Awards, I’ve been watching Marathi films regularly. If 2017 is the year of Baahubali, then 2016 surely belonged to Sairat. Directed by Nagraj Manjule and starring two newcomers, Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, the film went on to earn 100 crores plus at the box office. It enjoyed a pan-Indian presence in its subtitled avatar as well. The film is marked for adaptation in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, with Kannada and Punjabi versions already been released.
A simple love story with cast politics as the backdrop, the film has powerful performances from the cast. In fact, it’s worth the price of the ticket for the chemistry between the lead pair alone. It’s a must-watch for every cinema buff.
