Varun Dhawan: Prince Of The Box Office And Future Superstar

You’d believe he was born with a silver spoon. But Varun Dhawan is more than just David Dhawan’s son, Karan Johar’s protégé and Salman Khan’s fan. Forget a sense of entitlement; this young actor doesn’t even take his stardom for granted. He knows that his idols the Khans, the Kapoors, the Kumars and his contemporaries are successful only because they work hard. That’s the reason; an established star like Varun goes the extra mile to make Badrinath Ki Dulhania more than just another masala film. Forget the movies, his sense of candid self critique extends to the real world too. He’s inspired by the generosity of his peers. He enjoys Ranveer Singh’s constant support and affection. He wants his competition, Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor and everyone else to succeed. He also wants his fans to enjoy every moment of his on the big screen. He wants to be more than a star kid. Varun Dhawan is aiming for the sky. His ambition has no limits. And he’ll leave no stone unturned to succeed. Striking that rare balance between heart and head, Varun is forging ahead on the challenging and brisk path of success.

After Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, you’re back with the same team for Badrinath Ki Dulhania (BKD). What’s special this time?

Call it destiny but it’s really weird. A friend in college used to call me Badri. I guess, I was meant to play Badri someday. When Shashank Khaitan narrated the story about this boy from Jhansi, who falls in love, the problems he undergoes and his relationship with his parents, it interested me. For an urban boy like me to play a boy from Jhansi, a place I haven’t even visited was challenging.

Was playing a small-town guy tough?
