After their spine-tingling rendition of Stand by Me won over the world at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding last year, The Kingdom Choir can highly recommend a song for the new royal parents to soothe their baby boy to sleep.
“Gospel tunes work really well with babies,” the choir’s leader and founder Karen Gibson tells hello! ahead of the debut of the lullaby written especially by the choir’s Clinton Jordan for Baby Sussex, which they performed for the first time at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester a day after his birth.
“We’re very excited about our little new addition,” Karen says of Harry and Meghan’s newborn son. “He’s ours. He kind of belongs to the nation, I think. I can see them both being very hands-on, down to earth. I imagine Harry is like his mum, wanting to give this child the most natural experience of life – a little bit of normality, like Diana did.
“They’re human, just like any other couple starting a life together and include the Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl.
“Can you believe it?” says Karen, 55. “So many wonderful things have happened because of that one day.”
