For a 25-year-old, he’s got heavy-duty tags attached to him! As COO of the Embassy Group of Builders, one of India’s largest real estate companies, Aditya Virwani’s got his hands full and big shoes to step into – being Jitu Virwani’s son is not always easy. Jitu, the Chairman and Founder of the Embassy Group is the undisputed czar of the business who has spread his sphere of influence like a fierce conqueror annexing new territories. Over the last three decades, Embassy – together with its promoters – has developed over 53 million square feet of prime commercial, residential and retail space in India as well as Malaysia and Serbia.

The group’s multi-crore business is no joke. Not by any stretch. And no one knows it better than Aditya who is busy fitting into his new role and taking on, what is the biggest challenge of his two-and-a-half decades! He’s currently working on several large development projects and is interested in the adaptation of new-age technology across all businesses. “It’s nice but it’s also the part that sucks. You are benchmarked to someone who’s really successful and self-made. No matter how successful I maybe, I’ll never have the luxury of calling myself self-made, which is okay,” he says about balancing on a double-edged sword of his comfortable inheritance and living up to the legacy. He adds, “I would never be internally satisfied until I see myself that I have surpassed that success (of my father) and added value to the business. I don’t want to go out and do my own thing and try to prove a point. I want to add to something that’s already quite concrete and the foundation has been built for something that can be really large,” he says with inherent wisdom that perhaps comes with the early training he acquired from his dad at age 15!
