Hollywood Heartbreak: SAD LAST DAYS OF BELOVED STARS

BARBARA WALTERS

CRIPPLED by dementia, the TV news veteran Barbara Walters has become a prisoner in her New York City apartment, where caretakers spare her from watching news shows that don’t feature her face! Sources said the former “Today” and “ABC Evening News” host, 91, spends most of her time in bed and rarely has lucid moments. “She often doesn’t remember what day it is, or who her famous friends and former colleagues are!” a source spilled. As The ENQUIRER reported, Barbara is a sad shadow of her former self and sources said a visit from former “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg triggered a screaming fit!

BOB BARKER

AT 97, “The Price Is Right” legend is fading fast 14 years after leaving the popular show. Now insiders fear Bob Barker may be heading for the final Showcase Showdown. The increasingly frail game show icon no longer tends the backyard garden at his Hollywood home, and has a full-time caretaker to prepare his meals and groom him, sources said. Bob was once a regular at the grave of his wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, who died of cancer in 1981, but those visits are now few and far between. “His friends believe he won’t last much longer,” a source spilled.
