Katie Price’s family revealed their “worst fears nearly came true” last week when the reality star was involved in a drink-drive car crash.
In a statement posted on Katie’s Instagram, they wrote, “As a family we have for some time been concerned about Kate’s wellbeing and overall mental health. Today our worst fears nearly came true. As a family we have been and will continue to help Kate get the help she needs.”
They added, “It takes great strength for one to acknowledge they need help. We hope the door is now open for Kate to learn to love herself and to be happy within. Mental illness is not a personal failure.”
Katie, 43, pleaded guilty to one count of drink-driving, one count of driving without insurance, and one count of driving while disqualified.
The star, who was banned from the road at the time of the incident, overturned her car in Horsham, West Sussex, in the early hours of Tuesday. The court was told that she was heard saying at the scene, “I took drugs, I should not be driving. I admit it all.”
Katie is now having treatment at private hospital The Priory as she awaits sentencing – and those close to her, including her ex-husbands, are glad she’s getting help. A source close to Kieran Hayler, 34 – who shares children Jett, eight, and Bunny, seven, with Katie – told new, “Katie needs to try and forget about the past and focus on her future for herself and her children. Friends are hoping she can now reset and get the help she needs.
