Fans were stunned when it was reported This Morning favourites Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are set to be booted from their regular slot on the popular morning show.

But now new can reveal that the presenting power couple, both 60, are hoping that, after a huge outpouring of support from the public, bosses at ITV will reverse the controversial decision to replace them with Alison Hammond, 45, and Dermot O’Leary, 47.

Ruth and Eamonn currently present Fridays on This Morning, while Holly Willoughby, 39, and Phillip Schofield, 58, take the reins Monday to Thursday.

“Ruth and Eamonn are absolutely devastated,” our insider claimed. “They’ve heard rumblings about this for a long time. Eamonn in particular thought this was going to happen, so it wasn’t a shock.

“There’s been no confirmation of the changes, so Ruth and Eamonn are both holding on to the hope that they could win back their slot.
