Adele proved herself to be the queen of the British music industry last week as she picked up three gongs at this year’s Brit Awards.
OK! attended the star-studded event, where the 33-year-old singer returned to home soil to perform her single I Drink Wine, from her comeback album 30. It was her first public appearance since dramatically canceling her Las Vegas residency.
Adele tearfully apologized to fans last month when she announced the shows were being postponed just 24 hours before they were due to start after issues with the set design.
Putting the upset behind her, the night was one of celebration for Adele, as she beat her peers to pick up three of the four awards she was nominated for – Artist, Album, and Song Of The Year. She was also nominated for Best Pop/R&B Act, but that went to Dua Lipa.
Expressing her love for her home country, she said when picking up the award for Best Song, “It’s always a pleasure to be here. I always love coming home and the Brits is such a big part of my career since way back when I was a little foetus”
Later, accepting her British Album of the Year award, Adele fought back tears as she dedicated the prize to her nine-year-old son Angelo and ex-husband Simon Konecki.
“This album was all of our journey, not just mine,” she said. “I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was so personal to me because not many people do stuff like that anymore. My son has been so gracious and kind and patient with me over the last couple of years and it’s for him.”
