JODIE COMER ON HOW IT FEELS TO SAY GOODBYE TO KILLING EVE’S VILLANELLE AFTER FOUR SERIES

KILLING IT- ‘I HOPE WE GIVE PEOPLE A SATISFYING ENDING'

When Jodie Comer started playing Villanelle in Killing Eve in 2018, she was hardly a newcomer, having had lead roles in hit dramas including Doctor Foster and The White Princess. However, the role of the trained assassin with a killer sense of style has made her an international – and multi-award-winning – superstar. Soon she’ll be saying her final goodbye to Villanelle, as the fourth and final series of the spy drama begins. “Villanelle means the world to me,” says Jodie. “I’m so grateful to this series and to her for that opportunity. And the clothes!”

It’s clear the Liverpudlian actress feels emotional about leaving the series behind. “It’s sad to think that we’re not all going to be coming back next year, as I always rely on that comfort,” she says. “But I’m a big believer in leaving something while it’s good. It’s a bold decision to say, ‘This is it’.”

Here, the 28-year-old chats about flyaway hair, her favourite memories of filming the drama and one quirky night in Margate…

Hi, Jodie! It’s time to bid farewell to Villanelle. Why do you think she is such a huge hit with the viewers?

People love her because they know they shouldn’t. That’s attractive and feels naughty. She’s very free and liberated, and she doesn’t care a lot about what people think. They can live vicariously through her in that way.

How did it feel to shoot the final season?
