‘Daddy Is Becoming A Girl'
People Magazine South Africa|May 26, 2017

A FATHER of two transforms into a woman after eight years of marriage.

‘Daddy Is Becoming A Girl'

JAMES COHEN, 35, told his wife, Eirian, 35, that he wanted to become a woman just four months ago. Before sitting down to watch TV together, James admitted that he was a woman inside and had felt this way since he was a child.

James, who is now known as Kara, has been an electric and gas engineer his whole life.

Eirian has described Kara as always having been a man’s man, with not one feminine thing about him before her transition. Despite her husband now being a woman, Eirian still lives with Kara and their children and now sees him as her best friend.

Eirian, an actress and business owner, says, “It was a huge shock when James told me he wanted to be known as Kara. We’ve been married for eight years and have two daughters together. Before his transition he was a man’s man, a typical man with a hands-on job and in his spare time, he loved soccer. But I have accepted that he is now a woman and we’ve since become best friends. We were sitting down to watch TV and she turned around and said that she was transgender. I was very accepting, and I felt that it didn’t have to change anything. I wanted us to work everything out together, I was so proud that she was able to finally be who she wanted to be and not hide away from the world.” But she reiterates, “There was not one thing people could say was even slightly feminine about her. She always wore jeans and a T-shirt and she never put any effort into her appearance.”
